چکیده

AQM attempts to achieve high network utilization with low loss and delay by regulating queues at bottleneck links to provide useful feedback to TCP sources. While many AQM algorithms have been proposed, most suffer from instability, require careful configuration of non-intuitive control parameters, or are not practical because of slow response to dynamic traffic changes. In this paper, we introduce a new AQM algorithm, Hybrid RED (HRED), that combines the more effective elements of recent algorithms with a RED core. Through simulations in various network environments, we demonstrate that HRED has stable operation under steady load and rapid adaptation to changes in load outperforming earlier AQM algorithms.

Characterizing Reservation Management for Media Gateway Controller (Performance and Reliability)

In this paper, analysis and simulation of Media Gateway Controller (MEGACO) based COPS (Common Open Policy Server) which is a protocol defined in IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to transport configuration requests and deliver the policies is presented. For this scenario, three queuing models include M/M/1, M/M/c and M/D/c were applied . Then, some of the key performance benchmarks look l...

On Packet Marking Function of Active Queue Management Mechanism: Should It Be Linear, Concave, or Convex?

Recently, several gateway-based congestion control mechanisms have been proposed to support the endto-end congestion control mechanism of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). In this paper, we focus on RED (Random Early Detection), which is a promising gateway-based congestion control mechanism. RED randomly drops an arriving packet with a probability proportional to its average queue length (i...
